The landscape of (bio)medical research is evolving, with a promising future marked by a reduction and refinement in the use of experimental animals. Cutting-edge advancements in imaging technologies, genomics, the development of innovative animal-free techniques and computer models are contributors to this shift. As we move towards a future with fewer animal experiments and increased reliance on animal-free innovations, the demand for skilled professionals who can develop and implement these new experimental techniques is on the rise.
A Technologist in Animal-Free Innovation is the professional at the front of new approaches in the biomedical field. This specialization equips the knowledge and skills needed to bridge the gap between the latest scientific insights and practical implementation in laboratories that will implement animal free innovations. In this Master program, you will learn to develop and to introduce new animal-free research models, fostering collaboration among diverse stakeholders.
Upon completion of our program, you will emerge as a central figure in the laboratory—a professional with both technical expertise and effective communication skills. As a technologist, you will bring departments together, guiding the desired transition towards an innovative, animal testing (free) future. You will stay up-to-date with new technologies, receive continuous training, and become a solution-oriented, creative force in public and private research centers, innovation labs, companies, animal facilities, or regulatory bodies.
The curriculum for this master's degree is currently being developed. The one-year Master's program will be offered in September 2025. If you would like to be kept informed of the developments please send an email to us: master-dpvi@hu.nl
